University Entrance (OSA Plus)

Many students who attend The Oxford Summer Academy plan to go on and study at a world-class university. This involves making the right choice, and understanding and preparing for the selection process.  The Oxford Summer Academy Plus course is designed to help students make an informed choice about where to apply. This course covers all aspects of applying to university in the UK.  The topics and sessions covered include:

  • The UCAS System
  • Choosing the best subject
  • Choosing appropriate universities
  • Fees
  • Deadlines
  • Academic References
  • The Personal Statement
  • Entrance Tests
  • Interviews

Detailed hand-outs are provided, and students usually have the opportunity to discuss a prospective application with a subject specialist.

Following on from this, students are given advice and guidance on an individual basis with a dedicated Mentor. In particular, all students will have the opportunity to draft their personal statement at least three times.
For students who are considering applying to Oxford, we can arrange informal chats with University staff, and practice interviews. For students who are looking further afield, we visit at least 10 universities including Cambridge, some of London University's colleges and other top Russell Group Institutions.
OSA Plus also offers coaching in most university entrance tests including: BMAT, UKCAT, LNAT, HAT, PAT, STEP, The Oxford Thinking Skills Assessment Test.
This is an example timetable for the OSA Plus course. Please note, the actual layout will depend on university staff availability, so this should be used as a rough guide only.
