University Entrance

Many students who attend The Oxford Summer Academy plan to go on and study at a world-class university.  This involves making the right choice, and understanding and preparing for the selection process.  Each fortnight, The Oxford Summer Academy runs a half-day seminar which covers all aspects of applying to university in the UK.  The topics discussed include:

  • The UCAS System
  • Choosing the best subject
  • Choosing appropriate universities
  • Fees
  • Deadlines
  • Academic References
  • The Personal Statement
  • Entrance Tests
  • Interviews

Detailed hand-outs are provided, and students usually have the opportunity to discuss a prospective application with a subject specialist.

Following on from this, we are happy to give students advice and guidance on an individual basis. In particular, we are happy to help students with advice on their personal statement.

Students at The Oxford Summer Academy have the opportunity to live in a medieval college and explore Oxford University.  For students who are considering applying to Oxford, we can arrange informal chats with University staff, and practice interviews.  For students who are looking further afield, there is the opportunity to spend a day in Cambridge and visit some of London University's colleges.

The Oxford Summer Academy offers coaching in most university entrance tests including: BMAT, UKCAT, LMAT, HAT, PAT, STEP, The Oxford Thinking Skills Assessment Test.
